Dr. Divya Nagaraj - The Funny Dentist
“She is honest, kind, and funny!”
Our patients love Dr. Divya – even the ones who normally hate dentists! They love her because she is gentle with her hands, honest with her advice, and is a humorous conversationalist. When you truly enjoy doing something it doesn’t feel like work is probably why she’s great with dental procedures. She is the coach you never had, who is going to educate you and instill good habits. If you’ve had a bad experience with a dentist, you must come see Dr. Divya.
Can you talk about your education and experience?
My uncle is a dentist and I was fascinated by his work from the early age of 7. I loved how he could bring happiness to people by magically altering their lives with his wand i.e. drill. Being artistically inclined I was also drawn to the creative dimensions of dentistry. So from a young age, all I wanted to become was a dentist.
I graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 2013 and joined a corporate dental clinic. My practice was located near a retirement community and majority of my patients were baby-boomers. While I like patients of all ages, I particularly love my older patients. They are the most kind-hearted, well-mannered, and honorable people I serve, truly the “Golden Generation”.
During my time in corporate dentistry, I saw first-hand how corporate chains prioritize their profits over patient well-being. This prompted me to establish my own practice and Love 2 Smile Dental was born.
What is your motto in life?
“To create happy memories”, that’s why it’s our practice’s tagline as well. It is something I have learned from my interactions with my older patients. Life is measured in not how many years you lived but how many happy memories you created for yourself & everyone around you. At Love 2 Smile Dental, we are all about creating happiness for our patients and staff by delivering outstanding outcomes.
What is your biggest fear?
Being in open waters is my biggest fear because I don’t know to swim.
Tell us your favorite cuisine
I love Thai food, my favorite is the Thai Curried Fried Rice.
Are you a dog or cat person?
Definitely a dog person! Baby Golden Retrievers are the cutest thing on the planet.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I am a huge fantasy fiction fan, anything to do with magic! Some of my favorite works are Harry Potter, Lord of Rings, and Game of Thrones series .
What do you like to do outside work?
I am a mom to two young kids – Raina (5) and Viyaan (2) – and so spare time is a premium. I enjoying cooking – it is my outlet for stress. I am a pretty good dancer and spend time with my troupe every Sunday preparing for upcoming dance performances. I love traveling and learning about different people and their ways of life.
